June 2023Jump to: Chair Message | Welcome New Members & Member Highlight | News Around the Web I am excited to share more progress on the One IMC USA initiative announced in June of 2021, which has been the work of the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 National BOD terms. To raise awareness of the institute, we have been focused on doing things differently. Our strategic plan supports and emphasizes the bylaw’s Mission of Growth through certification, professional resources, and educational efforts. Please plan to attend the Annual meeting, June 15, 2023, for more information and updates for IMC USA. An announcement and registration link will be coming soon to your inbox! A special thank you to all who are volunteering on the CMC® Committee. I am sure all members have seen the new and improved messaging from IMC USA and the benefits and value of Certification. This committee has really worked hard, and I believe their work will be key to IMC USA going forward. A specific sprint team is completing work on our CMC Firm Designation. Stay tuned for announcements to be coming out soon. The most impactful thing we can do for the Management Consulting Industry is to raise awareness of IMC USA as the sole certifying body for management consultants in the US, and as a trusted source for education for those seeking to learn or enhance their consulting skills. All members of IMC USA are bound to our Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct. Can you imagine the impact that awareness alone can have on the consulting industry, which is unfortunately suffering from the unethical practices of some? One bad apple spoils the bunch. I genuinely believe now is the most important time for us to stand out from the crowd. Please consider attending the CMC Town Halls and watch for the announcement of dates. Have you been thinking about certification but not finding the time to gather the information needed for your application? Have you investigated the WHAT and the HOW but are not really convinced on the WHY of getting your certification? I encourage you to look at the benefits provided by your certification, and the process for submitting your application on the IMC USA website. You will find everything you need here: Benefits and Process (imcusa.org) I am pleased to announce two new National Committee Chairs: Liz Weber CMC® as IMC USA National Ethics Chair. Liz has an impressive background and is a perfect match for this important position. Mark Haas has filled this role for 20 years! He informed me of his desire to step down in 2022 but agreed to stay on until the right person was identified and vetted for this important position in IMC USA. Please thank Mark for his many years of service to IMC USA as the Ethics Committee Chair. I do believe 20 years is a record! Andre Vaccaro CMC® as IMC USA ICMCI Delegate. Andre also has an impressive international background and is a perfect match for this important position. Juan Negroni CMC® has filled this position since the end of his National Chair and CEO term. Juan has served IMC USA for ten years on the national board and various committees before his BOD service. Please reach out to Juan and thank him for his contributions to IMC USA. Thank You to all the Chapter, Committee, and SIG Volunteers who offer their time and talents to IMC USA. You are the lifeblood of IMC USA and your continued support for our association and members is greatly appreciated. Volunteers are an essential and invaluable part of any association. Please join us in celebrating IMC USA's newest Certified Management Consultant®, April Hamud, CMC®! April is a Project Manager at HF&H Consultants. For over ten years, she has assisted municipal agencies with solid waste and recycling issues, including contract procurement, negotiations, financial modeling, and rate studies. April learned about the CMC five years ago when her supervisor (who is a CMC®) encouraged her to pursue the certification. A few of her firm's executives and senior managers were also certified. She admired their professionalism, diplomacy, and high ethical standards and started to attend some of the SoCal chapter workshops. Check out April's professional profile here. Our IMC USA has successfully addressed the ICMCI’s Triennial Assessment for awarding the CMC® credential. IMC International Members are encouraged to explore and consider earning the Global CMC® through the ICMCI (The International Council of Management Consulting Institutes). The ICMCI’s CMC-Global Institute link is located at https://www.cmcgi.org/content/cmc-designation. 2023 CMC® Triennial Recertification FormRecertification continues with more CMC's renewing their credential this year. Since July 1, 2022, one singular CMC® Recertification Form has been adopted that adheres to the already authorized format from the IMCUSA Board of Directors. In the future, following a July 31 deadline, a $70 administrative charge will be added to process any candidate’s recertification form. If you do not recertify, your IMCUSA status will be changed from Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) to Professional.
