Dr. Erin Kelly

Work Design for Health:
Reflections on Hybrid Work and More, from a Major Experiment

Major changes are developing in the workplace, particularly policies and management practices, many of which began changing before the pandemic. The implication of this could be significant in terms of potential improvements or, on the negative side, deterioration in workers’ wellbeing. Similarly, will equity be advanced or lose ground while supporting strong organizational performance? In her new book Overload: How Good Jobs Went Bad and What to Do About It (Princeton University Press, 2020, co-authored with Phyllis Moen), Erin L. Kelly suggests answers culled from a major experiment in a Fortune 500 firm.

A Sloan Distinguished Professor of Work and Organization Studies at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, Co-Director of the MIT Institute for Work and Employment Research and holder of a Ph.D. in sociology from Princeton, Erin is an expert on work redesign and wellbeing, the future of work, and organizational practices that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion. She will share her findings with us in this session, including implications for both management consultants and our clients.

Dr. Philip Kotler

Corporate Leadership and Responsibility: Changes Now and Change that Must Come

How have American businesses been changing over time? For one, companies today are equipped with new technologies for competing in local and global markets.  They are also becoming increasingly interested in defining their purpose beyond making profit.  They further need to embrace environmental goals and show heightened sensitivity to social problems.  And their politics too might be changing in response to the growing polarization in our two-party system.  Finally, questions arise about why people in Nordic countries score highest in happiness and health and what this might suggest about improving American capitalism.

In this year’s keynote session, Dr. Philip Kotler will cover all these dynamic developments including their implications for consultants and our companies. The S.C.Johnson Distinguished Professor of International Marketing at the Kellogg School of Management (emeritus), Dr. Kotler has been called the father of modern marketing. He received his M.A. degree in economics (1953) from the University of Chicago and his Ph.D. degree in economics (1956) from M.I.T. He has been awarded honorary degrees from 22 universities in addition to other awards and honors. Author of 80 books and 150 journal articles, he has consulted and lectured in numerous countries. At this year’s IMC Consult-Con, he will receive Recognition of Lifetime Contributions to the Management Consulting Profession.

José Salibi Neto

Understanding Peter Drucker:
My 14 Years with the Greatest Management Thinker of All Time

For a decade and a half, Jose Salibi Neto worked closely with the great management guru Peter Drucker in Brazil and Argentina and at Drucker's home in California. During these years, he learned how Drucker ticked, including:

  • His formation in the early years in Vienna
  • The origins of his thinking
  • The four areas he divided his work
  • Who were his mentors?
  • The courageous decisions he made that helped him become the world's greatest management thinker
  • His management philosophy
  • How he was able to think decades ahead of his time
  • How his thinking still remains very important for managers worldwide
  • The role of demography in his thinking
  • How was he able throughout history predict what was coming
  • The role of abandonment
  • How he was driven by curiosity
  • His integrative thinking

José Salibi Neto is co-author of Management of Tomorrow, a worldwide bestseller now in its tenth edition, with over 50,000 copies sold. A previous book, The New Culture Code, attained bestseller status a mere two weeks after its release. Salibi’s latest book, Adaptive Strategy, published in 2020, is on the verge of repeating these feats.

For over two decades, Salibi worked and socialized with most top management thinkers, including Peter Drucker, Jack Welch, Michael Porter and Philip Kotler, and world leaders such as Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, Al Gore and Rudolph Giuliani, among others. Co-founder of HSM, the leader in Executive Education, his name is immediately associated with the introduction in Brazil of the key concepts of contemporary Management, having helped to transform thousands of companies, executives and entrepreneurs over the last 25 years.

Salibi is currently a keynote speaker at events throughout Brazil, helping companies and professionals achieve their full potential and make decisions that will determine the future of their businesses and careers. He was mentor to Edson Bueno, founder of Amil, for more than 20 years. His clients include companies such as Algar, Oracle, Ticket, MGB Group, Liberty Seguros, Dasa, Unimed and Aliansce Sonae, among others. He is also co-author of the best-selling Driven By Ideas and, more recently, What Business Schools Don’t Teach

In his autobiography, professor Philip Kotler, deemed the “father of modern marketing,” devotes an entire chapter to Salibi’s work, whom he calls an “entrepreneur extraordinaire.” In addition, Salibi obtained six Coach and Master Coach certifications in Brazil and the United States. A graduate of the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, he earned his MBA in International Business from the same institution and was a member of the school’s Advisory Board for 20 years. In 2009, he was honored with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the university’s highest tribute to a former student.

Finally, in his youth, Salibi was recognized as one of Brazil’s leading tennis players, winning several junior and professional tournaments both in Brazil and abroad.
