        Connector Newsletter October 2022

Message from the Chair/CEO, Julia Demkowski CMC®

As we move closer to the National Conference, I am reminded of the amount of work that goes into planning such an event. Our Conference Committee is knocking it out of the park this year! If you have not registered, there is still time! If you know other consultants, the conference packages always offer a fantastic opportunity to combine membership and the conference. We have several different combo packages so please share with others!

It is also a reminder for me to say Thank You! Thank you to all the Chapter, Committee, and SIG Volunteers who offer their time and talents to IMC USA. You are the lifeblood of IMC USA and your continued support for our association and members is greatly appreciated. Volunteers are an essential and invaluable part of any association. IMC USA is fortunate to have so many talented members! Your commitment makes a huge difference.

Your National Board of Directors continues to focus on membership value, growth, and retention. We need more volunteers to help with supporting committees and sprints for various projects.

Volunteering in a professional association can have huge benefits, not just for you but for everyone. There are plenty of opportunities for:

  • professional development and personal growth
  • networking with peers developing relationships
  • sharpening old or cultivating new skills
  • developing strategic thinking and goal setting,
  • increased visibility

If you have limited time available to give, you might consider volunteering on a on an Ad Hoc committee or a sprint team. No doubt we have all worked on consulting projects with a specific purpose of addressing an issue or multiple issues. These volunteer opportunities are most valuable and are a perfect way to get involve without making a long-term commitment.

We are currently looking for 2 committee chairs: marketing and membership. A member in good standing can join any of our national committees. For your reference, our current National Committees are listed below and on our website.

Your 2022 National Board of Directors ask you to consider sharing your skills with IMC USA. We have been working to create an environment to attract more volunteers for local and national participation. If you have been thinking about getting involved, please accept this invite to join us at the IMC USA Leadership Meeting on Friday, November 18th from 8 a.m. – 12:00 pm. We will present our 2023 plan and update on many projects underway. Please message Gregory Brooks at [email protected] to find out more information on volunteering or to let us know you would like to serve on a sprint team of a particular interest.

Our immediate focus is on our 2022 National Conference and kicking off soon is the 2023 Membership Campaign. Please help us get the word out by liking and sharing on your social media platforms. Consider reaching out to fellow consultants to invite them to attend the conference and learn more about IMC. We are the best association of management consultants, and we need to share that message with others!

As always, welcome hearing from you.

Looking forward to seeing you in Louisville!

Incorporating DEIB into an organization's strategic planning process allows for effective integration of DEIB strategies and performance metrics linked to the organization's overall mission and goal. For consultants facilitating strategic planning, this workshop offers an overview of DEIB and how to reimagine the design of traditional strategic planning engagements with the inclusion of DEIB strategies.

All of our work is subject to board approval, but we are optimistic that the work of this committee executed by IMC USA staff will boost the amount of CMCs in the United States.

Your not-for-profit foundation continues to work on your behalf by improving management consulting. Your 501(c)3 was established about a decade ago to create awareness of the value of ethics and professionalism in consultants.  Most recently we announced the availability of scholarships to attend Consult-Con in November and two of your fellow student members are thankful for the opportunity, provided by you, to be with and learn from their new professional peers. The Foundation needs your help to continue enhancing your profession. Yes, this is an ask. We can’t improve without participation. There are many ways to give (tax deductible, of course), simply go to your IMCUSA account on the website, and navigate to the Foundation page and click on Donate. It is that easy to make a difference.

You can help by going to https://www.imcusa.org/foundation and making a tax-deductible contribution to raise the level of awareness of ethics in consulting and to equip professionals to practice management consulting with the highest ethics and professionalism.
