        Connector Newsletter September 2022
Message from the Chair/CEO, Julia Demkowski CMC®
And We’re Off!

Can you believe summer is ending? I am amazed how slow time moved in 2020, and then 2021 and 2022 have moved at the blink of an eye. I hope you all had an opportunity to connect with friends and family this summer.

We will soon roll into Q4, and for business owners that means planning for the new year begins. I always find this time of year to be the most invigorating because this is the time to look at what is working in my business and what I want to add. The past couple of years have taught us many things, specifically how we do business. I believe in silver linings and as bad as 2020 was, there are a few silver linings for us. One of them being new opportunities to work virtually with clients from all over the world! As consultants, we have some amazing opportunities to help clients literally thousands of miles away. Just think how common place it is now when scheduling a business meeting to not only confirm date and time, but also zoom or phone! It is amazing how comfortable we have become using video. Not that long ago many were just learning to use video, and I admit I was one of them- and was extremely uncomfortable. However, thanks to IMC USA and all the meetings we have, it is second nature now. Of course, my skills need sharpening, but I am way ahead of where I was before 2020!  I am working with more clients outside of Virginia than ever before.

If you have not looked at the conference program in a while, please click here and check out the program for this year. The 2022 IMC USA conference is going to be amazing. This year is full of “how to” presentations and is the perfect opportunity to help you in your 2023 business planning. The conference committee has truly delivered an outstanding program with amazing speakers. You will recognize several of our members who are speaking this year in breakout sessions. I always say we have the most amazing consultants in IMC USA, and this year we will get to see a few in action!

I am a people person. Always have been. One of my favorite things about our annual conference is the people. As good as the past 2 virtual conferences were- nothing brings the energy and excitement out like getting together with other members of IMC USA. We are an amazing group of consultants, and I can guarantee if this is your first opportunity to attend an IMC USA conference, you will not be disappointed. If you have not been to one in a while- this will be a great one to return to. I have missed everyone so much!

Please put November 18 - 20th on your calendar and help spread the word. If you know other consultants, the conference packages always offer a fantastic opportunity to combine membership and the conference. We have several different combo packages so please share with others!
A special thank you goes out to all who are volunteering to make IMC USA the best that it can be. We have done a lot of work this year and more exciting news to share soon! One hint I will put out there- if you have been thinking about certification and just have not gotten the application in…. now is the time! More news soon!
Looking forward to seeing you in Louisville!

CMC Committee Newly Formed
The CMC Committee met August 10, 2022 and August 24, 2022 and are currently working collaboratively to create plans and content to aid IMC USA toward the goals of increasing the number of CMCs in the United States, starting the CMC firm category, developing a track from professional to CMC, and increasing the value of CMC for practicing consultants and their clients. We will continue to meet and discuss the next part of our projects. Our work continues, and we aim to have actionable items for IMC USA to communicate to our audience in the very near future.

Certified Management Consultant (CMC®)
CMC® Certification Committee and Volunteers

2022 CMC® Triennial Recertification Form
Recertification continues with more CMC's renewing their credential (https://imcu.memberclicks.net/cmc-renewal) this year. Since July 1, 2022, one singular CMC® Recertification Form has been adopted that adheres to the already authorized format from the IMCUSA Board of Directors.

In the future, following the July 31 deadline, a $70 administrative charge will be added to process any candidate’s recertification form. If you do not re-certify, your IMCUSA status will be changed from Certified Management Consultant (CMC®) to Professional. Click Here for more information on CMC® Recertification.

IMC USA Foundation
Your not-for-profit foundation continues to work on your behalf by improving management consulting. Your 501(c)3 was established about a decade ago to create awareness of the value of ethics and professionalism in consultants.  Most recently we announced the availability of scholarships to attend Consult-Con in November and two of your fellow student members are thankful for the opportunity, provided by you, to be with and learn from their new professional peers. The Foundation needs your help to continue enhancing your profession. Yes, this is an ask. We can’t improve without participation. There are many ways to give (tax deductible, of course), simply go to your IMCUSA account on the website, and navigate to the Foundation page and click on Donate. It is that easy to make a difference.
You can help by going to https://www.imcusa.org/foundation and making a tax-deductible contribution to raise the level of awareness of ethics in consulting and to equip professionals to practice management consulting with the highest ethics and professionalism.
