Kelly Work Design for Health: Reflections on Hybrid Work and More, from a Major Experiment
Major changes are developing in the workplace, particularly policies and management practices, many of which began changing before the pandemic. The implication of this could be significant in terms of potential improvements or, on the negative side, deterioration in workers’ wellbeing. Similarly, will equity be advanced or lose ground while supporting strong organizational performance? In her new book Overload: How Good Jobs Went Bad and What to Do About It (Princeton University Press, 2020, co-authored with Phyllis Moen), Erin L. Kelly suggests answers culled from a major experiment in a Fortune 500 firm. 12:15 – 12:30 pm, EDT 12:30 – 1:30 pm, EDT 1:30 – 1:45 pm, EDT Break 1:45 – 2:45 pm, EDT Dr. Philip Kotler
Recipient of this year's IMC USA Lifetime Contribution Accolade, Kotler will address how have American businesses been changing over time? For one, companies today are equipped with new technologies for competing in local and global markets. They are also becoming increasingly interested in defining their purpose beyond making profit. They further need to embrace environmental goals and show heightened sensitivity to social problems. And their politics too might be changing in response to the growing polarization in our two-party system. Finally, questions arise about why people in Nordic countries score highest in happiness and health and what this might suggest about improving American capitalism. 2:45 – 3:00 pm, EDT Margaret Chock PhD, CMC® Angela Dingle, CMC®, CGEIT Elizabeth Glynn Roberta Guise DTM Linda Howard, CVF, PMP, CMC® Ken Lizotte, CMC® Kirk P. The ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus argued that “you cannot step into the same river twice.” Heraclitus’ observation argues that things are always changing, although it perhaps also begs the question how our recent Covid pandemic "river" has reshaped our current – and future – business landscape. HOST: Jim Talerico CMC®, Greater Prairie Business Consulting Inc.
Two significant trends are now developing in our US business community according to a recent McKinsey poll: 1. 46% of businesses have decreased their spending in 2021 because of Covid These two trends will force us consultants to adjust if we are to succeed and thrive in the face of new customer habits and trying, unfamiliar economic times. This panel session explores how such developing trends will impact the “Next Normal” for both management consultants and their client companies. 5:15 – 6:15 pm, EDT Kevin Zraly's "One Hour Wine Expert™" Join your colleagues at the closing first day social with the One Hour Wine Expert™, a tasting of the four major grape varieties taught by Kevin Zraly, author of the "Windows on the World Complete Wine Course." HOST: Andre Vaccaro, Nova Orbis Global Business Advisors Inc.
The world as we know it has changed in a most dramatic way. Despite the obviously negative repercussions of the pandemic, what has also emerged are conditions for world trade that have never been so favorable. With the pandemic and lockdown accelerating the development of effective remote working conditions, many physical barriers to international trade and business have fallen by the wayside. As a result, the world has gotten smaller.
